A HELPING HAND

Extract a video’s audio as MP3 or save a short section

Keep the audio from your own recording as an MP3, either in full or as a selected section. Choose a profile, listen to the result and download a copy while the video stays on your device.

Import a video and choose a profile

  1. Import MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV, up to 100 MB and 30 minutes. The synthetic example lets you try the workflow without a personal recording.
  2. Choose Music for stereo MP3 at 192 kbit/s, or Voice for a smaller mono file at 96 kbit/s. These profiles do not remove background noise or separate speech from music.

The first audio track is used when the video contains several tracks. Subtitles are not converted into speech. Use recordings you are entitled to process and share.

Choose a section with a concrete example

  1. Leave Start and End empty to keep the full audio. Otherwise enter times in seconds or minutes:seconds.
  2. You can move the video playhead and use Start at current position or End at current position. Check the displayed duration before converting.
  3. Create the MP3, listen to it and download it. If you change the settings, create a new MP3: the previous download still reflects the old conversion.
To keep 1:30 through 2:15:
Start: 1:30 (or 90)
End: 2:15 (or 135)
Expected duration: 45 seconds

Understand the expected file size

At the same duration, Voice uses roughly half the audio data of Music because its bitrate is 96 rather than 192 kbit/s. A 45-second excerpt is approximately 0.52 MiB for Voice or 1.03 MiB for Music, before small container and encoder overheads. The measured result is authoritative.

Converting to MP3 re-encodes the sound and can reduce quality. Choosing Music does not restore detail missing from the original. Keep the original video if you may need a different export later.

If the preview or conversion fails

The browser preview and the conversion engine support different codecs. A video without a playable preview may still convert, but a damaged file, protected stream or video with no audio cannot produce a usable result. A supported extension alone does not guarantee that its codec is readable.

The audio engine downloads about 32 MB on the first import. A connection is needed to load it; the source video is then processed locally. Start with a short file on a phone. Processing may be slower and use more memory than playback.

Cancel stops the current operation and keeps the previous usable source and result. Download the MP3 before closing or reloading the tab or switching language. Output is limited to 60 MB.
