A HELPING HAND

Hide an address or number on an image or PDF

Before sharing an image or PDF, cover the information you do not want to show. Work on a copy and inspect the downloaded file.

Open the image

  1. Choose your JPG/PNG image or PDF, or try a FilePico example.
  2. Identify every item to hide: name, address, number or signature, and QR codes or barcodes if you do not want to share them.
  3. For a PDF, use Previous page and Next page. Each page keeps its own rectangles. Nothing is detected automatically.

Cover each item

  1. Draw a rectangle with a mouse or finger. Rectangles are solid black, rather than blurred.
  2. Cover the entire information, with a margin around letters, edges and reflections. Add up to 40 rectangles per image or PDF page.
  3. To correct a drawing, select Undo last rectangle and draw it again. For a PDF, this button affects the current page.
  4. For keyboard drawing, focus the image. Move the cursor with arrow keys, press Enter to set the first corner, then move and confirm the second corner. Escape cancels the current drawing; Shift + arrow moves one pixel.

Create and review a copy

For an image, select Create my masked copy: PNG preserves rendered pixels; JPG uses lossy compression. Dimensions are kept and transparent areas become white. For a PDF, select Create my masked PDF: every page becomes an image in a new PDF, including pages without rectangles. Page order, orientation and visible dimensions are preserved.

Rectangles are painted into the copy’s pixels. A PDF is rebuilt entirely from these images: no selectable text, links, bookmarks, form fields, attachments or original objects are copied. Original metadata is not carried over, and the download uses a generic file name.

Open the downloaded copy and review every page and visible detail. Information outside your rectangles remains present. Share the exported copy, not the original photo or a screenshot of the editing interface.

Recreate the copy after changing settings. The previous result stays available while you work and is marked as no longer reflecting the current settings.

Limits and originals

Up to 20 MB per file. Images: 24 million pixels, 40 rectangles and 32 MB per export. PDFs: 50 pages, 40 rectangles per page and 64 MB per export. About 150 dpi, capped at 3,000 pixels on the longest side, 6 million pixels per page and 120 million for the whole document. Everything is processed in this browser.

Protected PDFs, forms and digital signatures are rejected: prepare a flattened copy from your PDF reader and keep the signed original. The original file on your device remains unchanged. The original document stays in memory during editing so you can make corrections. Clear all removes the current editing session. Download your copy before closing the page or changing language.
