A HELPING HAND

Create and print vintage labels for jars and boxes

Prepare matching labels for homemade jam, storage boxes or gifts. Choose a frame, customise the text and download an A4 sheet to print and cut out.

Prepare your label

  1. Open Create vintage labels. Try the fictional jam example or write your own title.
  2. Choose a classic blue, vintage blue, burgundy or olive frame, or one of six Christmas designs. Add a short line for a date, recipe or name. Vintage frames fit the title on one or two lines; Christmas designs have a smaller writing area.
  3. Jam, Spices and herbs, and Storage examples fill the currently displayed label. Make them your own. Open My sheet: size and quantity to set dimensions and quantity, then check the preview. Shorten the title if the selected design leaves less writing space.

Prepare Christmas gifts

The six designs are also available on the Christmas labels page. Put the recipient’s name in the title and your name in the short line. The design adds Merry Christmas in the English version and Joyeux Noël in French.

For several gifts, enable Different text on each label and use Previous label and Next label to fill in each recipient. The design and size stay shared across the sheet.

Christmas designs have their own illustrated background: the cream background and writing lines options are hidden. Check every name in the preview, then export the PDF sheet or just the displayed label as PNG.

Choose paper and background

The cream background adds an old-fashioned look on white paper. Turn it off for cream, kraft or coloured paper, or to save ink. Printed colours may vary slightly with your screen, paper and printer.

The two bottom lines let you add a date or note by hand after printing. They can be turned off. The title uses the Kalam handwritten font, bundled locally and embedded in the PDF.

Print at the correct size

  1. Create and download the PDF sheet. Labels are 60 × 40, 85 × 55 or 90 × 65 mm depending on the selected size.
  2. In your PDF reader, select A4 and 100% or Actual size. Turn off Fit to page.
  3. Test on plain paper, measure one label, then cut out. For adhesive labels, use full-sheet adhesive paper to cut yourself.

A simple sheet to cut out

Labels have 5 mm gaps and at least 10 mm margins on A4 paper. A sheet holds up to 18 small labels or 8 medium or large labels. Quantities beyond one sheet add PDF pages.

By default the sheet repeats the same text. Enable Different text on each label, then select each label to edit its title and short line. The style stays shared. It does not match manufacturer pre-cut templates. Text that is too long or contains unsupported characters is reported before export.

Limits and privacy

From 1 to 100 labels. Titles allow 60 characters and the small line 50 characters; particularly wide text may need a larger label or shorter wording. French accents are supported.

Download this label as PNG saves only the currently displayed label, with its cream or white background. For exact printed dimensions, use the PDF sheet. Your text stays in this browser. Create the PDF again after a change to download the current version. Download before closing, reloading or changing language.

Fill a list, check the sheet and continue later

For several gifts, open Paste a list of names. Write one name or main text per line, for example Emma, Noah and Camille on three separate lines. Each line is copied exactly as written; add the word “For” if you want that wording. The current small line is copied to every label. Fill my labels replaces the sheet’s texts and sets the quantity to the number of non-empty lines, keeping the design. You can still edit each label separately afterwards.

Preview the full sheet shows the A4 layout, margins and gaps used in the PDF. Browse the sheets when your series spans several pages and check the names before creating the PDF. The preview does not replace a test print at 100%: printer margins and colours can vary.

Under Continue later, Save my creation downloads a .filepico-etiquettes file with your texts, design, size, quantity and current label. Open a creation loads that file here. Opening replaces the current creation: save it beforehand if you want to keep it. The file is limited to 64 KB and contains no program or imported image. An invalid file leaves your current work intact. There is no automatic saving or account.
