A HELPING HAND

Split scanned receipts into separate PDF files

Three receipts share one scanned sheet, but you need one file per receipt. Select the useful pages, check each frame and download separate PDFs. Your scan stays on your device.

One scan, three receipts, three files

Diagram of one sheet containing three numbered receipts becoming three separate PDF files.
Each checked frame becomes a receipt PDF. Always inspect the edges before exporting.

This tool crops receipts within a page. If you already have one receipt per PDF page, use Save each PDF page separately instead. If the receipts are already separate files, merge selected PDFs to create a combined document.

Choose the pages that contain receipts

  1. Open Split scanned receipts and import a PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP. Try the synthetic example first if you want to explore without a personal document.
  2. Select the pages to export and run the split. Leave the expected count blank for automatic detection, or enter the number of receipts on each page. Use Whole page for an invoice that should remain intact. Pages already prepared are kept.
  3. Move through the prepared pages. Check the page orientation before inspecting the frames.

Correct only the page that needs it

Automatic detection is a proposal, not a guarantee. Pale printing, tilted receipts, folds and touching edges can make the boundaries ambiguous. If the proposed count does not match your expected count, inspect the page and correct it before exporting.

Choose Correct this page. Adjust the frames, or clear them and draw one around each receipt. Keyboard fields let you enter position and dimensions. Apply to this page commits these frames without changing other pages. Cancel correction restores the previous result.

Check every selected page, including the bottom of each receipt and the total. You can rename the output files to help organise them. FilePico does not read the merchant name or date automatically.

A practical batch check

Page 1: 3 receipts, all frames correct → keep as prepared
Page 2: 2 receipts, one pale edge missed → correct page 2 only
Page 3: 1 full-page invoice → Whole page
Expected export: 6 PDF files

Treat that count as a manual check, not proof of completeness. Open all six files after extracting the ZIP: each should contain the intended receipt or invoice, with no clipped lines. If a frame contains two receipts, split it before exporting again.

Download and keep the originals

  1. Download the ZIP and extract it with your computer’s archive tool. Where supported, you can choose a folder and explicitly allow files to be saved there instead.
  2. Open the exported PDFs and check readability, orientation and edges. Keep the original scan separately.
  3. To group selected receipts later, import their downloaded PDFs into Merge PDF files. Switching tools keeps the tab’s session but does not automatically transfer the entire receipt batch.

Download before reloading, closing the tab or changing language. Those actions reload or clear the working session.

Limits and what this tool does not do

Cropped receipts become image PDFs. Whole PDF pages retain their original content. There is no added OCR, amount recognition, duplicate detection or accounting export. Cropping does not establish the validity of a receipt.

Imports are limited to 25 MB, 30 pages and 60 million rendered pixels in total. Each selected page supports 1 to 12 receipts. Divide larger scans into smaller batches and check the exported files, not only the preview.
