Add text to a video

Video: 50 MiB · 1 minute · 1,920 px per side · 60 fps. Up to 50 captions, without overlaps.

On first import, the video engine downloads about 32 MB. A recent computer is recommended.

Open a video, then add text at the moments you choose.

Formats and limits

H.264 MP4/MOV/M4V or VP8/VP9 WebM, standard 8-bit colour. HEVC, HDR and offset tracks rejected. Output: H.264 MP4 at 30 fps, same proportions; odd dimensions rounded down to an even count. First audio track re-encoded as stereo AAC; other tracks, existing subtitles and chapters omitted. Output limit: 64 MiB. SRT: 200 KiB, 50 captions, 240 characters each. Missing font characters block MP4 creation, not SRT download.

Your files stay on your device. Download the MP4 and SRT before closing, reloading or changing language. Keep your originals.

Steps, formats and limits

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a video or try the example.
  2. Write captions and set their start and end with the player or time fields.
  3. Choose position and size, check the preview, then download the MP4 and SRT.

Is speech recognised automatically?

No. Write your text or import a UTF-8 SRT. There is no automatic transcription or translation.

How do MP4 and SRT differ?

MP4 contains text burned into its images, visible without a separate file. SRT keeps only text and timing, without position or size.

Can two captions appear together?

This first version shows one at a time. Overlapping intervals block export. Times are applied to the precision of one frame in the 30 fps output.

What happens to the sound?

The first track is kept as stereo AAC; others are omitted. Keep the original and check the sound: the MP4 is re-encoded.
